A total of 13 SDM students and faculty members visited a facility for the disabled called Yokohama Rise in Shinyoshida-cho, Kohoku-ku, Yokohama on May 23, 2010. The visit was organized by Masaki Hokari (second year in SDM master’s course) in the Universal Design Laboratory and the Human System Design Laboratory. Mr. Okuda, the facility coordinator, deepened the participants’ understanding of the importance of facilities for the disabled and of universal design, and also explained about the care equipment, facilities, and about managing such a facility.
