2026年9月28日から10月2日にブルガリア・ソフィアで開催された第10回International Smart Data and Smart Cities Conference（SDSC 2026、GeoSofia 2026の一環として第21回3D GeoInfo Conferenceおよび第14回FIG Workshop on LADM & 3D LAと合同開催）にて、衛星データから推定した屋外の熱ストレス指標（Universal Thermal Climate Index, UTCI）と将来人口予測を統合し、シドニー都市圏における2031年の暑熱リスクを評価した研究論文が、Best Paper Award（受賞3編）に選出されるとともに、会議全体で1編のみに授与されるBest Paper and Presentation Award（スポンサー：MDPI ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information）を受賞しました。
この研究は、センシング・デザインラボ（神武研究室）の西野瑛彦特任講師（University of New South Wales（UNSW）School of Built Environment の Visiting Fellow を兼任）、神武直彦教授がUNSWのSisi Zlatanova教授と共同で実施したものです。
