Hidekazu Nishimura obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Graduate School of Science and Technology, Keio University in 1990. He was an associated professor in Graduate School of Engineering at Chiba University before leaving to prepare for the launch of SDM in 2007. He was a visiting researcher in the Department of Mechanical, Marine and Material Engineering at Delft University of Technology in 2006, and a visiting associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia in 2007.

  • Universal design for personal mobility and public transport, including trains and buses
  • Safety control systems design for drivers and automobiles
  • Occupant injury protective control
  • Dynamical systems control and simulations
  • Model-Driven Systems Development using SysML (Systems Modeling Language)
  • Small satellite design for natural disaster mitigation
