Introducing "Waso (Japanese traditional dress) style" for a cooler campus

The Graduate School of System Design and Management has been engaging in various projects to overcome electricity shortages resulting from the Tohoku earthquake. One of these ideas was to encourage the everyday use of Japanese traditional dress, cool to look at in the muggy Japanese summer. SDM is therefore encouraging students and faculty who so wish to wear “waso” in the coming weeks as air-conditioning use is reduced for electricity savings. We are hoping the adoption of cool-looking Japanese traditional dress would make the campus appear and feel “cooler” than usual.
